Today we had a wonderful tour that took us to Port Renfrew then lunch and finally South of Discovery Island. We did have a private tour and what perfect weather for one.
We did get notified that a lot of Orcas passed the Sooke area around 11pm last night so we decided to head West. Unfortunately they were not there when we reached Port Renfrew. The second half of the tour did take us to Discovery Island to find J-Pod coming up from the South. It was a great flat and windless day.
Tomorrow we have a few spots left on our morning run and 10 seats available on the afternoon.
Have a GREAT CANADA DAY!

Today we had a great day! We started off of Sooke in the fog heading towards Victoria that had the L-2’s 4 miles SW. We spent a great deal of time with them as they slowly moved east all tight together. On our way back we stopped at Race Rocks that had a huge Elephant Seal on the boat Ramp.

Today we decided to head West because of the weather and found a large Gray Whale off of Jordon River heading West. This animal was moving fast & not stopping to eat. Each time he made a deep dive he was showing his fluke, what a sight! Also we did view many seals, a Stellar Sea Lion, 2 elephant seals and a huge grouping of marine birds.

It was a great show!

Today we had a blast on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We started out this morning rounding
Whiffin Spit when a friend called me on the radio stating that a group of Orcas past by
at 0830. We decided to head West and approx. 1015 we came across 6 Transient Killer
Whales making a kill in front of the Sooke Bluffs. The animal was a large male Stellar
Sea Lion. It was an incredible sight to see.
Our afternoon tour took us to the San Juan Island to see K-Pod moving up and down the
Island. It was great to see all those animals playing and feeding all close together

Today we had a part of L-Pod right off of Sooke. There were over 20 Resident Orcas heading West area during our 10am tour. It was a beautiful day on the Strait with low winds and fairly calm seas. We did view lots of breaching by the calves and females in the group. L-41 (large male) spy hopped 100 yards off of our boat twice. It was a great day for whale watching off of Sooke.

Everyone had a GREAT Fathers Day on the water. We left the dock to get reports of Resident Orcas off of San Juan Island. The weather was perfect for a smooth ride. We arrived to find the L-12’s and J-pod converging on the southern tip. Lots of activity was seen by all the animals. It was also a great sight to see the young Orcas doing so well!

Today was another great day with the weather cooperating this morning. We started out first at Race Rocks, unfortunately no Sea Lions for the past couple of days. We then got a report of Orcas at Hein Bank. We could see the fleet way off in the distance when I noticed blows closer to us. We arrived to find a group of Orcas all by themselves.

Jun 18

Today our morning tour took us to Race Rocks when we got the call of Orcas off of Sooke heading West. We arrived to find the L-12’s again heading west when we also noticed breaching further away. When we arrived at the other group we found J-Pod and a part of K-Pod heading East. The two groups combined and what a sight! It was not the Super Pod but there were over 40 Orcas all together. We viewed breaching, spy hopping, tail slapping…, it was fantastic!  We had our motor shut off for over 30 min. and had whales all around us the entire time.

Tomorrow we have another great tour scheduled for 10am

Jun 18

We had a great yet bumpy afternoon trip on Wednesday. The tour took us East where we had a part of L-Pod. There were 6 animals all close together playing, feeding and moving slowly to the west.
